Dr. Dean Burns was a member of the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M University and graduated with a Biomedical Science degree in 1981.  He and his wife, Becky, also married in 1981.  They stayed in Aggieland 4 more years when Dean was accepted into Veterinary School where he graduated with his DVM in 1985 (along with long time partner, Dr. Randy Murray).  Dr. Burns then served 4 years active duty in the US Army.  Before moving to Texarkana in 2008, he was a sole practitioner in the Gilmer/Gladewater area.  He and his wife have 2 married daughters and 4 grandchildren.  He is an avid (rabid) high school and college football/baseball and volleyball fan.  Dr. Burns and Becky have spent time fostering children, and they attend Church on the Rock.  Dean is also an active supporter for the prevention of veteran suicide and promoting the value of service dogs for veterans and others in our community.  “We always knew God had a reason for us to move to Texarkana.  Caring for fostered children and veterans is that reason.”
